Out of Towners
Who lives in Sonoma?! That makes everyone an out-of-towner, so here are some ideas for what else to do while you're up here. Remember, the wedding is Thursday so you might as well turn your visit into a long weekend in wine country and San Francisco!

GENERAL INFO:
Some useful sites to help you plan your visit.

Downtown Sonoma
Sonoma CA
Web link
The downtown area in the town of Sonoma is a lot of fun, with an old city hall, a large park, and several shops, restaurants, and hotels to browse.

Shows where all the vineyards are (most have tours and tastings)

PLACES TO STAY:
We recommend the following places based on their quality and proximity to Viansa. We've visited them all (and they're all great), and we've tried to pick places with a range of prices. For additional places to say, check out hotels.com and let us know if you have any questions--we have checked out most of the places in the area to help you scout for the perfect place to stay.

The Lodge at Sonoma
1325 Broadway
Sonoma CA
(707) 935-6600
Web link
A relaxed but luxurious hotel about 5 minutes from Viansa (the closest nice hotel). You can stay in a normal room or they have private cottages and suites. They have a great pool and hot tub and also a full health spa. Their restaurant "Carneros" looks quite good as well. Rooms should be about $200-250 per night.

The Inn at Sonoma (Four Sisters Inn)
630 Broadway
Sonoma CA
888-568-9818
Web link
A cute and well-appointed B&B cum hotel about 6 minutes from Viansa. They only have 19 rooms so they may fill up quickly. The rooms are large and all have fireplaces, and there's a hot tub on the roof with a nice view.

Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn
550 Second St W
Sonoma CA
Web link
Looks quite nice and it's in downtown Sonoma, which is a fun place to walk around (also about 10 mins from Viansa). Rates should be quite affordable ($150ish would be my guess--hey this is Sonoma in summer).

Courtyard Marriott in Novato
1400 North Hamilton Parkway
Novato CA
Web link
Right off 101 before you turn onto 37 to go into Sonoma (about 15-20 minutes from Viansa). Looks very nice and probably quite afforable.

Sheraton Petaluma Hotel
745 Baywood Drive
Petaluma CA
(707) 283-2888
Web link
This is the closest "big hotel" (about 25 minutes from Viansa, right of 101) and it was recommended to us by friends who had stayed there before. It's very large and looks very nice, but shouldn't be too expensive.
